Zintel Canyon Roller Compacted Concrete(RCC) Dam

The Zintel Canyon project was a local flood protection project to provide flood protection to portions of Kennewick, Washington. The project consisted of constructing a 90-foot-high, 520-foot-long, roller compacted concrete detention dam. It has an uncontrolled spillway and fixed-release outlet works at the mouth of Zintel Canyon and includes 4,165 feet of 78″ buried conduit, improved channel and culverts to carry discharges from the outlet works, and flood inflows below the dam that run through Kennewick to the Columbia River. The dam has a retention capacity of 1,260 acre-feet to provide protection for a 100-year event. DelHur was required to crush and process rock materials from an on site quarry for the RCC. Utilizing our contractor-owned pugmill, DelHur processed and placed approximately 70,500 cy of RCC in the construction of the dam.
