The Lisbon Valley Mine is an open pit copper mine located in the Four Corners region of southeastern Utah (southeast of Moab and northeast of Monticello). DelHur was hired by the mine owner under two separate contracts to construct a heap leach pad and wastewater ponds for the mine site and to perform excavation and site work.
The Heap Leach Pad and Ponds project work activities included top soil stripping, pad subgrade prep and proof-rolling, pond excavation and embankment construction, silt liner installation for the leach pad, processing and installation of clay liners, leak detection, installation of PVC/CPT/HDPE piping ranging from 2-inch to 24-inch, earthworks and grading, construction of pad berms and an access road, water pond construction, erosion protection, and the construction and backfill of five pond leak detection sumps.
The Mill Infrastructure Site work project work activities consisted of 44 acres of clearing/grubbing (including topsoil removal), site ditch excavation, primary crusher excavation, course ore tunnel excavation, secondary crusher excavation, processing facilities excavation, primary crusher Hilfiker retaining wall construction with backfill, and completion of excavation and embankment for the crushing circuit and processing facility.
