LRI owns and operates a regional landfill in Pierce County Washington. The facility is only allowed to accept waste that is generated within Pierce County. DelHur has a valued and long standing relationship in providing construction services for LRI. Most recently, DelHur was contracted to perform closure and cell expansion work at this facility. Phase III Closure– The closure included slope cut; the installation of engineered fill; the placement of a foundation layer, a bedding layer, geosynthetic clay liner, geomembrane, and drainage composite; the installation of gabion mats; placement of vegetative soil cover; tie-in with existing closure; anchor trench and stormwater run-off control ditch; gas system improvements; a concrete stem wall; hydroseeding (7 acres); and surveying. Cell 5A Construction – Major work activities consisted of cell excavation; processing and placement of a soil/bentonite admixture liner; 60 mil HDPE liner; drainage aggregate; and the construction of a leachate recovery system consisting of slope risers, a sump, HDPE piping and a pump station.
